WebA Reimbursement for Long-Term Care. When a Veteran was admitted to a long term care facility, the Veteran’s family had no idea that VAC covered these costs. They applied for a retroactive reimbursement, back to the date the Veteran was admitted, but the request was denied. After attempting a second level appeal, they contacted my Office for help. Webwould not be satisfied without something to do. I knew what Long-Term Care Ombudsmen do because my family used their services to settle a problem with the facility where she lived. So, when I saw the request for volunteers, I jumped at the chance. I wanted to be there for all the residents. Volunteer ombudsmen determine their own schedules. WebOmbudsman programs promote policies and consumer protections to improve long-term services and supports at the facility, local, state, and national levels.
